Please pray for a man I know at the American Legion. He almost died because a heart valve wasn't working and his kidneys failed. His organs started shutting down, but they managed to stabilize him at a hospital here in Phoenix, AZ.

His name is Dennis and he drinks too much and from his conversation I'm pretty sure he isn't saved. My friend and I went and visited him last night in intensive care. He has the DT's and was medicated and they said he was trying to wake up but didn't seem to be improving. I prayed for him and rebuked the devil and
asked God for his salvation. My friend prayed in tongues. (Dennis, I'm sure, would never have allowed all this if he'd been fully conscious).

Anyway, today at the American Legion one of the ladies said she'd called the hospital that morning and they said that Dennis had improved. Just wanted to ask for Christians to pray for Dennis; his salvation and his health.

 Praying for Dennis.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Earthangel, anyone who drinks too much is in pain and it does'nt necessarily mean he or she isn't saved.

I'm a prime example of that.

God knows the heart of man.

Dennis is suffering. He already feels guilty and unworthy. He feels like a failure. I can guarantee you that he is ashamed of his life. When my sister's father in law was lying in a hospital bed, dying from a stroke, I went there and I prayed for him. I put my hand on his forehead and prayed, even though he could not speak.

I prayed for him and witnessed to him for over 20 years without any progress or profession of faith. He was Jewish. All these years he maintained that he was trying to be faithful to the God of Israel, ONE God. He didn't understand Jesus. He thought he was a prophet, a good man, but not the Messiah.

When I first began to pray, he writhed as you'd see someone in pain. I got scared! But I didn't lift my hand from his forehead, though I wanted to. The moment I asked for Jesus to show himself as the Messiah to George, he relaxed. He went from being totally agitated to total peace. Many people in our family witnessed this. I too was astonished and yet reassured.

I know in my heart that Jesus heard my prayer and that he showed George who he was and therefore George didn't have to feel like he was betraying the God of Israel.

You see... we have to always remember that salvation is a gift, a miracle and an act of God.

Jesus said, no one can come to me unless the Father draws him. And no one can come to the Father except through me. John 6:44

Jesus said, when I be lifted up, I will draw all men to myself.

Out of Love...I know and trust that Jesus is calling Dennis to himself. I know satan will attack him. He will try to convict, condemn, confuse and deceive Dennis. I only hope that the pharisees of today don't do the same.

I'm praying for Dennis earthangel...

but so is Jesus.... he's been praying and interceeding for him since before he was born. God has a plan for Dennis.

And it's a good one!

may not work out according to men's plans, or according to man's defintion of success, but God will accomplish his perfect will through Dennis' life.

God will be glorified through this life.

Men may say that Dennis' life was a waste, but that just proves they don't know God.

God chooses the weak, the lowly, and the nothing's of this world to shame the wise and the proud.

Dennis is in good condition.

He's not proud. I can assure you of that. If he's been cynical, argumentative, or combative, it's because of the hypocritical judgement he's gotten from others...and sadly, the predominant offenders probably came from his own family.

We're all guilty of hurting those closest to us.

We've all heard the saying...

You always hurt the ones you love most. And we always take for granted the ones who love us the most. Or something like that...

Standing in His love and grace, julieann

Thanks for the prayers; I appreciate it very much and Dennis can use the help.

Appreciated also the story about the Jewish man.

I actually said that from Dennis's conversation I believed he was unsaved. I used to talk to him once in a while, but I had already moved on because I was tired of being propositioned and listening to crude remarks. It doesn't mean I don't care; I cared enough to visit him in the hospital, though I was mainly doing it because Jesus said to.

You wouldn't believe it but there's a few people at the American Legion I attend that I'm pretty sure are unsaved. I would even say the unsaved hold the majority at that particular club. I brought up Christianity to someone who is an officer of the club and he shut me down immediately and told me he would not have conversations about politics or religion. He'll pass a crude joke, though. They are a very patriotic group, though seemingly heavy on drinking, gambling (on-site off-track betting) and some womanizing. I'm just afraid that what I'm seeing in that club is what America has become in general.

I am praying for Dennis too, Earthangel. And for you also, you are being a good friend. I pray that you and Dennis will be a witness for the Lord to the members of the American Legion group. May the Lord bless you and yours.

In Christ, Susan

They certainly need people to reach out to them Earthangel.

I would like to recommend a book that would help you greatly in your outreach.

I'm sure you've probably heard of it. It's called "Alcoholics Anonymous BIG BOOK." First Edition, 188 pages

It will help you understand the true condition of an alcoholic and how to more effectively reach out to them.

Actually, I just got a copy of it myself and am reading it now. It's a real eye-opener for me and has squashed all my previoius beliefs about alcoholism.

God bless your ministry Earthangel! :hug

Just an update on Dennis. He did wake up and the hospital says they expect him to walk out of there at some point. However, he is to never smoke or drink again. I asked (in front of Dennis) if he could have even one beer a week and the medical person said it would be better if he didn't, though one probably wouldn't kill him. I told Dennis I would let the bartender at the American Legion know that.

Dennis seemed pleased at the attention he was getting, I know a lot of people from the legion had visited and been concerned about him. He even tried to convince my friend and I to give him a ride back to the Legion (he's still in ICU). We told him all the stuff attached to him wouldn't fit in the truck.

Thanks for the prayers. But Dennis and that whole club (it's mostly full of veterans and also has a scruffy looking group of motorcyclists attached to it) needs a Christian revival and prayer in that direction would be really good. Thanks.

:high five

Earthangel, thank God he's alive!

Alcohol WILL kill him, if not, he'll kill himself.

If you could get him a copy of Alcoholics Anonymous BIG BOOK (even if it's only the first edition) and give it to him, with no ties or obligations, it could save his life.

God bless :hug
