When I was 15 years old, I was not saved at all. I was in my rooom listening to Skid Row , a heavy metal group. They are not christian. They was singing get the F out. My dad heard it and oh boy he went in and jerked that tape out. He tore it up. He told me to get in the car cause we are going to Wal-Mart. I said cool. I went into the electronics section, see he ought to know where I was gonna go. I was searching through the heavy metal tapes. But God had a plan for me... Somehow a 4him tape was in the heavy metal section. An employee must have put it in a wrong spot. It was their first album... I saw hey this a cute guy meaning Kirk lol .. I thought it might just be a pop group. I asked my dad to buy ir. He said he would have to listen to it first. When we got home he did. He said I needed to listen to it... I listen to it and as I was listening to it, I found out it was christians. I didn't listen to it anymore. Yeah right I did too... Well the lord dealt with me for a week. My sister's friend Tracy ask me to go to church with her after bugging me for a month. The church was in Mauldin, Greenville SC. Assembly of God. She got lost so we saw a Church of God church. We went there. The preacher preached a good sermon and after the sermon, he gave the alter call. I felt something pulling at my heart but I didn't want to go up there by myself. So I asked Tracy. I got saved. I went home and I told my mom. She was not happy about me getting saved. She just said just don't preach to her and she was cursing... that really hurt. A week later she really discouraged me so I slipped and backslid. Well in 92, I was in the tenth grade. I had a horrible time. My ex-boyfriend raped me. Noone would do anything about it not even the police... So I quit school cause I was scare he was going to come after me again. In March of 92 my aunt introduce me to my husband now charles. We dated about two months and then he asked me the question to marry him. I said are you joking cause I never got asked the question before. He said no. Then he got my parents blessing. They approved. I got married to Charles on June 28th 1992. He introduce me to listening to Petra. Mine field was the song I listen to and quietly ask Jesus to forgive me again........ So 4him and Petra was influences in my life. My husband was the biggest one... If it was not for them, I would not be saved today. |
