In 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 we see some interesting verses which would be good to discuss and I believe would be helpful for us all. Here are the verses: "6. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7. But WE HAVE this TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS, that the EXCELLENCY OF THE POWER may be of GOD, and NOT OF US." Exactly what do you think He means to say here when He says "TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS? |

Ken, I believe the treasure spoke of in these verses to be the gift of the Holy Spirit that lives within the hearts of all those who recieve Jesus as their personal savior. For the light of the Lord lives in us & shines light on our dark sinful ways so that we may repent & be transformed into his likeness. He guides us & leads us by his light. We must be willing to step out of the darkness & follow His light in obedience with his word, both written & spoken to our hearts. In addition it is the weakness of our earthly vessel or flesh that continues to remind us God deserves all the Glory for giving us the power to overcome our sin through the gift of His son Jesus. What love our great God has for each one of us to also give us the gift of the Holy Spirit. Not only are we forgiven we are given the power to overcome evil & be like Jesus Christ spearding the love of the God among the people of Earth. ~Tracy~ Edited by Tracy, Feb 3 2010, 11:56 AM.

Thanks for your comments, TRACY. So far it is just you and me. Well here goes again. 1 CORINTHIANS 1:25-29 "25. Because the FOOLISHNESS OF GOD is wiser than men; and the WEAKNESS OF GOD is stronger than men. 26. FOR YOU SEE YOUR CALLING, BRETHREN, how that NOT MANY WISE MEN AFTER THE FLESH, not MANY MIGHTY, not MANY NOBILE, ARE CALLED. 27. BUT GOD.... hath chosen THE FOOLISH THINGS of this world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen THE WEAK THINGS of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28. AND BASE THINGS of the world, and THINGS WHICH ARE DESPISED, hath God Chosen, yea, and THINGS WHICH ARE NOT, to bring to naught things that are: 29. THAT NO FLESH SHOULD GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE." God has a plan, and that plan is ALL ABOUT WHAT HE WISHES TO ACCOMPLISH IN THIS EARTH. He has INVESTED HIS POWER in people who IN THE EYES OF THIS WORLD are worthless, and no good. Most would call crazy, and missfits. "Dinosaurs of men", living in the past, walking against this modern tech. age of intellectual giants, who have NO USE for God. HE IS USING WHOM HE WILL. Many that the church today think are NOT USABLE. AND THE REASON HE HAS EARTHAN VESSELS IS..... SO IT WILL NOT BE ABOUT THE VESSELS. When everyone looks at the vessels GOD WILL USE, they will shake their head and say.... WHERE DID THAT NUT COME FROM?? GOD WOULD NOT DO THAT! WHO SAYS? You had better watch out who you say will not. After all God used, DAVID the adulterer and murderer, Samson the show off, Rahab the whore, Jacob the contender, Jeremiah the "doomsday preacher", Saul the upright pharisee, John the Baptist a man in skins eating bugs, Peter a smelly fisherman, Lazarus laid at the gate full of sores - (a begger), the Samaritan Woman who was married five times and living in sin, yet ran away with the well, Matthew the tax collector, and many more...... BE CAREFUL WHO YOU JUDGE UNWORTHY, FOR THAT ONE MAY BECOME THE GREATEST VESSEL OF ALL. AN EARTHEN VESSEL THAT WILL REFLECT GOD'S GREAT GRACE, MERCY, LOVE, AND FORGIVENESS. ......and Jesus said.... "He that is without sin, LET HIM CAST THE FIRST STONE." quote.... John 8:7
