Do You Smell That?

I got this in an email and I was so blessed by it that I had to share it with you all. Be blessed!

In Dallas, the doctor, walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. She was still groggy from surgery.
Her husband, David, held her hand as they braced themselves for the latest news.
That afternoon of March 10, 1991, complications had forced Diana, only 24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency Cesarean to deliver the couple's new daughter, Dana Lu Blessing.
Posted Image
Posted Image
At 12 inches long and weighing only one pound nine ounces, they already knew she was perilously premature.
Still, the doctor's soft words dropped like bombs.
'I don't think she's going to make it,' he said, as kindly as he could.
Posted Image'There's only a 10-percent chance she will live through the night, and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it, her future could be a very cruel one'
Numb with disbelief, David and Diana listened as the doctor described the devastating problems Dana would likely face if she survived.
Posted Image
She would never walk, she would never talk, she would probably be blind, and she would certainly be prone to other catastrophic conditions from cerebral palsy to complete mental retardation, and on and on.
'No! No!' was all Diana could say.
Posted Image
She and David, with their 5-year-old son Dustin, had long dreamed of the day they would have a daughter to become a family of four.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Now, within a matter of hours, that dream was slipping away.
Posted Image
But as those first days passed, a new agony set in for David and Diana.
Posted Image
Because Dana's underdeveloped nervous system was essentially 'raw', the lightest kiss or caress only intensified her discomfort, so they couldn't even cradle their tiny baby girl against their chests to offer the strength of their love. All they could do, as Dana struggled alone beneath the ultraviolet light in the tangle of tubes and wires, was to pray that God would stay close to their precious little girl.
Posted Image
There was never a moment when Dana suddenly grew stronger.
Posted Image
Posted Image
But as the weeks went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight here and an ounce of strength there. At last, when Dana turned two months old, her parents were able to hold her in their arms for the very first time.

And two months later, though doctors continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of surviving, much less living any kind of normal life, were next to zero, Dana went home from the hospital, just as her mother had predicted.

Five years later, Dana was a petite but feisty young girl with glittering gray eyes and an unquenchable zest for life.
Posted Image
She showed no signs whatsoever of any mental or physical impairment. Simply, she was everything a little girl can be and more. But that happy ending is far from the end of her story.
One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in Irving , Texas , Dana was sitting in her mother's lap in the bleachers of a local ball park where her brother Dustin's baseball team was practicing.
As always, Dana was chattering nonstop with her mother and several other adults sitting nearby when she suddenly fell silent. Hugging her arms across her chest, little Dana asked, 'Do you smell that?'
Posted ImageSmelling the air and detecting the approach of a thunderstorm, Diana replied, 'Yes, it smells like rain.'
Dana closed her eyes and again asked, 'Do you smell that?'
Posted Image
Once again, her mother replied, 'Yes, I think we're about to get wet. It smells like rain.'

Still caught in the moment, Dana shook her head, patted her thin shoulders with her small hands and loudly announced,
'No, it smells like Him.
Posted ImageIt smells like God when you lay your head on His chest.'
Posted ImageTears blurred Diana's eyes as Dana happily hopped down to play with the other children.
Before the rains came, her daughter's words confirmed what Diana and all the members of the extended Blessing family had known, at least in their hearts, all along.
Posted Image
During those long days and nights of her first two months of her life, when her nerves were too sensitive for them to touch her, God was holding Dana on His chest and it is His loving scent that she remembers so well.

Talk about tears...SOB!!

I can fully relate to this.

I was born 40 years ago now. Back then they did not have technology like they do now and I was born three whole months early. The doctors said the SAME thing about me..and back then..I WAS as good as dead. In fact..I DID die..twice. The first time they revived me after five minutes. I breathed for another day. The next day I died...again..and THIS time they could NOT bring me back. About an hour passed and they had tagged me and were in the process of bagging me and taking me to the morgue..when I up and started crying.

The doctor nearly fainted and the nurses..well..they were all a dither I can tell you (I know this because when I was 13 my mother took me to the hospital to meet them..and I saw my very own death cerificate too.)

It was touch and go with me after that. The doctors had little hope before I died that I would have any sort of normal life..and after I was dead and gone to heaven for an entire hour..they had NO hope I would have any sort of life besides that of your average carrot.

But I was to dissapoint them all..I fought on and on.(Ive always been stubborn) By the age of five it was clear there was nothing wrong with me at all..in fact I had an impressive IQ..a FAST mind..and active and lithe body..and an innate knowing that this world was just a bunch of atoms..and not the REAL world.

You should have seen the look on doctor clarkes face whe my mother introduced me to him when I was 13. I was built..strong..healthy..the opposite of what they were CERTAIN I was to be according to them.

Two years later when I was born again..and Jesus took me to heaven...I KNEW the place right from the moment he took me there and he explained that I HAD been there before. He had sat on the throne..cuddling me to his chest...as he did that sweet little miracle girl.

What was always a question I have wanted to ask Jesus..and never thought to do so at the time was..

WHY...did my brother Daniel who was born only ONE month premi die?

And WHY did my sister Leah who was born FULL term only live for eight hours? But I come along..have all the comlications in the world including TWO consecutive DEATHS..and I LIVED to tell the tale??

Jesus knows...and soon I will know too.

wow Simon, thanks for sharing that.......that's really interesting....

I am findig myself becoming more and more interested in NDE's.......I am not so inclined to disbelieve them.......What is interesting to me though, is that those who expereince them often seem to become connected to the occult side of it......so it makes it hard to discern when a true believer expereinces it, it what they saw/expereinced is true, do you know what I mean?

also, I love the rain/smell story too.......I can't read it enough times......
Isaiah 57:1The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
2He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

I cant remember my NDE when I was a baby..only subconciously. I certainly recognised heaven though...I pointed things out that I KNEW because I had seen them before. I just could not remember when..or HOW...until then anyways.

Simon........any thoughts on *how* to discern? or *why* some seem to have the dark side influence after this happens, as opposed to .....say, you? and any advice to the rest of us as to how to discern the difference?

I have a reason for asking and it as to do with personal expereince.......

Thanks, and God bless!

I was also wondering why so many NDA's nullify the sacrifice of Jesus,
and imply everybody goes to heaven,
and yet there are some who see hell.

Who is the author of confusion?

Satan in of course. If there is confusion to be had Satan will be there somwhere either cauisng it or taking advantage of it. Us humans are pretty good at confusing things too without satans help, but confusion and strife attract satan like flies are attracted to rotting meat.

As for me what I had as a baby was not an NDE..I WAS dead..not NEAR dead. Thats why they were so amazed when I started breathing again after a whole hour. I was taged and bagged...as dead as I was ever gonna get. Jesus had OTHER plans for me though.
I cant remember what happenned but I do know that when I was growing up I saw the world as a facade..not real..immitaion. I always felt detatched from it. I never felt "at home" in the world..I knew that it was NOT my home and was only temporary.

I knew from as far back as I can remeber that there was indeed a creator and that the creator was God and that his sons name was Jesus. I KNEW all this before I heard the gospel. I grew up with it..and when I was born again it all fell into place..I then understood why I knew what I knew. AND...I am STILL learning.

Eternity is a LONG TIME..and we are going to spend it learning about just how wonderful Jesus is. We will have an ETERINITY to learn an INFINITE amount of KNOWLWDGE about an INFINITE GOD.

So..dont get all caught up with this world..its only a shell..a conveyance...a waiting station..before the REAL purpose of our lives kicks in.

Hey Simon, I'm definitely not trying to cause strife or anything, i am trying to understand.

One of the most bizarre experiences I have been privileged to, had to do with another, who died.....was DEAD, and came back.

His experiences are vastly different than yours. He claims to be an Indigo child because of his coming back from death. He does warfare in the spirit realm. He captures and cages *bad* demons. He claims to work for God, and to do good. He claims to be helping "Christians" do what they cannot do........He fears he is a nephilim and has no soul.

I think he is possessed ( I saw his picture).
Isaiah 57:1The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

You are right there. Some people come ut of these experinces changed for the better...and some come out of them changed for the worst.

Satan never misses an opportunity to decieve.

Hey guys. I just wanted to touch on this subject of NDE's and why unbelievers often share a different side of "hell" that they believe is Heaven.
I read a book by B.W Melvin called "A Land Unknown". This guy was an atheist whom one day contacted Cholera through drinking bad water. He died and was judged by Jesus. Jesus told him that he would sent him back but he had to see the other side of hell which was lined top to bottom with cubes.
Once an unbeliever died, there soul would be placed inside of these cubes and they would be deceived by demons into believing that they were in paradise. Slowly the demons would begin to manifest themselves for who they really were. That is why you hear people who were not believers speak of having heavenly experiences.
I believe that B.W Melvin has his testimony over on YouTube. You should check it out.

God Bless

That's very interesting, I will definitely watch. I wanted to share another friend's experience.....

He was a Roman Catholic who he and I met on another forum and discussed doctrine etc., back and forth when we realized we live in the same city. So we have actually met for lunch a couple times. Well, we fell out of communication, but one time he caught up with me again. He told me he had died, but came back to life. He said it was AMAZING what is on the other side. Not being able to help myself, I asked him about Purgatory.

This is what he said:

Heaven? HHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Purgatory? HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
Hell? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

But he refused to share anymore details with me when I stressed that sometimes these things may not be a truthful experience.......I have never heard from him again...........
