Without discourse among ourselves we do not learn. I am glad you are fired up in defense of the Word. Please never give that up. Now regarding the issue discussed, I will have to side with wil on this one. I do not see this as essential to the faith. Like our views on the timing of the rapture, some things we will not be sure of until that day. If you feel so strongly about these views compromising your salvation perhaps you can go over them with us and show your case with each, discribing why they can be damaging to the soul. But no need to be calling someone a wolf unless they are purposely leading into critical error. If one is teaching error without purposely doing so then I would say they are deceived, not a wolf. Personally speaking...I am glad you came to this site to join in our discussions. We need believers that are as fired up in defense of God's word as you are. Paul |

Paul, bless you, bless you! I want to hug your neck! I am "fired up" for the Lord, all right, but sometimes my flame thrower gets out of control. I apologize to Mary Ellen for blasting her and calling her names. I am very sorry I "lost it" like that. The anger of man does not work the righteousness of God. I promise next time I'll count to ten before I hit the "post" button. I'd have to pick those issues apart, one verse at a time, to show the discrepancies, but I'm afraid it's mountainous. The entire discrepancy is so VAST, one would have to start at the very beginning with Christianity 1A. If the entire bible has not been read, where one scripture can be compared with another, then there is no place to start. Picking ONE scripture out and building a DOCTRINE upon it is invalid, unless it agrees with ALL scripture, old testament and new testament. I was incensed because MANY CULTS ARE FORMED THIS WAY. The Seventh Day Adventists are one example that comes to mind. They have formed a complete doctrine on worshipping on the Seventh Day - the Sabbath. They have MANY false interpretations of scripture that just don't stand up to biblical scrutiny. The Mormon church was also formed by ONE person developing all his OWN new “interpretations”. Re-writing scripture, and saying it is OK because we all see things differently, is one very steep and slippery slope. If the only DOCTRINAL ISSUE that mattered was salvation, John 3:16 would be all we need, wouldn’t it? Let’s look at the “great prostitute” in Revelation 17. Autoimmune says she is the Bride of Christ. Rev. 17:1 “One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters.” [Question #1: how does the bride of Christ sit on many waters?] (2) With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” ..... “She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries .... I saw that the woman was drunk with the BLOOD OF THE SAINTS, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus.” (v:16) “The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.” Sorry, I can’t go on. Reading the description of the great harlot and saying that she is the Bride of Christ, is so off-the-wall and absurd, it doesn’t even merit discussion. [Where’d I leave my flame-thrower?] It's hard for me to point out ONE particular error that is "soul-damaging", except to say, the WHOLE THING is soul-damaging because it compromises the truth of the Word of God. If one starts hacking up scripture and rewriting it, piece by piece, pretty soon the WHOLE bible is of no value. Where do you stop? Where do you draw the line? It's the "slippery slope" that is soul-damaging. Tell you what, please give me ONE topic you'd like to discuss, and let's start there. (Nicely, I promise.) |

I also feel we should use the entire Word to check out our views on something. I do not agree that the harlot in Revelation is also the bride. But I do not feel believing that will cause one to be lost. There are many views as to who she is and scripture, while giving clues, does not come out plain and say for sure. When something like that is in the word for us to wonder about I feel it is not mandatory that we are correct in how we see it. If so them most of us are in big trouble. As would be in our views of the rapture timing. These are non-essentials if you ask me. Now if one denies the work of the cross and the covering of the blood then I would say they are lost. Or if they deny living a seperated life unto holiness then I would say they are in grave danger of the judgement of God. There are other things that could be added to the list but this is just a sample as to show my point of view. Now if you, or anyone else has a different view, or more to add, then I would welcome it. As I am sure any others here would. That is how we learn. As the scripture says; iron sharpeneth iron. Edited by justme, Aug 23 2008, 04:44 PM.

I accept your apology, Banty Hen. I’m very glad to embrace you in Christ as your sister. Counting to ten before hitting the post button is a good idea, imo. I often wait hours, or even days before replying to be sure I’m not acting out of a soulish desire to “be right” and correct the other guy. That’s one reason I’ve stayed out of the conversation the last week and waited until you offered me the opportunity to speak with you again. Perhaps it's best if we let the subject drop. You see my perspective as a great heresy, and I'm not sure I want to discuss with you the meatier issues of justice, mercy and love that are involved in understanding who the bride is and the role she plays in God's overall plan for mankind. May God grant us both the grace to love each other better than we have so far. Mary Ellen |

Mary Ellen, Thank you for the olive branch. I agree, we should just let it drop .... OR... if you want to continue your conversation, do it freely, I'm just going to bow out and not interfere with my "remarks". When people are sharply divided on an issue - - like politics or the timing of the Rapture - - I've never seen one person yet say, "Yes, you're right, I never thought of it that way, I'll change sides." It just gets bloody and feelings are hurt and friendships are lost. So.... this Banty Hen is riding off into the sunset...... |

I'm glad we're at peace over this, Banty Hen. Unless someone else asks a specific question, there is no reason for me to offer anything else on the subject. Since this is a forum where we share our beliefs, though, I suppose the subject will come up again. I'd be happy to answer questions that arise, but I'd suggest others do it simply by asking me for the scriptures from which I derived the belief, without ad hominems (remarks about me, rather than the issue under discussion). I'm always willing to forgive a personal comment, but it makes it difficult to continue discourse once it gets sidetracked that way . . . which is sad because the way we build/edify the church is by sharing our understanding of scripture. If what one of us says is wrong, we can be gently corrected with the right verses. On the other hand, what one of us says may deepen others' understanding and love of God and each other, so it is important to hear each other out in love. May our next discussion be more productive. Peace, Mary Ellen |

Hi Banty Hen I am familiar with some of your other visions and I'm still inspired by them.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
