Hey I heard the name means Rod of the Lord but when I looked it up the spelling of that was Gustaof and the Name of this storm is spelled Gustav. Does that change the meaning? I dont want to tell people this hurricane has the name of Rod of the Lord unless its true. I just heard on Fox news that they do expect it to become a hurricane. Oh my! I was just going to post this! I didn't really think there was actually going to be a hurricane Gustav!!!!! So let me get this straight. Do they come up with the names a head of time? Did Matthew have inside info on the names for the season, or are they listed somewhere?

Matthew Stephen: "And this staff of God that's coming, this Gustav, that's coming behind this Fay, when it strikes the land, folks, watch out. I pray for God's mercy, but I can tell you right now, this land is going to be shaken from one end of the coast to the other to its very core, and it's about to take place, and the other night, I literally heard the explosion again." http://all-things-new.net/topic/6512078/1/ |

This was from Wil Quote: They are actually picked out by the hurricane officials before hurricane season, and assigned to the storms in alphabetical order as they are formed. Oh and just saw on the news that Denver was hit my some pretty massive tornados |

http://geography.about.com/od/physicalgeography/a/2008names.htm For every year, there is a pre-approved list of names for tropical storms and hurricanes. These lists have been generated by the National Hurricane Center since 1953. At first, the lists consisted of only female names; however, since 1979, the lists alternate between male and female. Hurricanes are named alphabetically from the list in chronological order. Thus the first tropical storm or hurricane of the year has a name that begins with "A" and the second is given the name that begins with "B." The lists contain names that begin from A to W, but exclude names that begin with a "Q" or "U." There are six lists that continue to rotate. The lists only change when there is a hurricane that is so devastating, the name is retired and another name replaces it. 2008 Hurricane Names Arthur Bertha Cristobal Dolly Edouard Fay Gustav Hanna Ike Josephine Kyle Laura Marco Nana Omar Paloma Rene Sally Teddy Vicky Wilfred |

GUSTAV Gender: Masculine Usage: Scandinavian, German Pronounced: GOO-stahf (German) [key] Means "staff of the Goths", derived from the Old Norse elements Gautr "Goth" and stafr "staff". This name has been borne by six kings of Sweden, including the 16th-century Gustav I Vasa. Ok looks like the meaning is indeed Staff of the Lord. Also I heard that Gustov was a replacement name for another that was on the list and was kinda bad. Sorry I dont know more details about that so take it with a grain of salt. Just that fact that this Nation is under Judgement and we have a hurricane by the name of Gustov heading our way is a bit concerning. |

Do we continue to follow Matthew Stephens prophecy, even when he was wrong about the Olympics? |

What Shershalom said!
I am only following this hurricane and praying it does not come here. This is reminiscent of 2005. |

No. You do not continue to follow any of his "prophecies". He continues to prophecy falsely and he is reported to be having some issues in his life that must be dealt with. Please review some other threads in the forum for additional details. |

What concerns me is that it went from a disorganized mass of storms to an expected hurricane hitting Haiti by tomorrow in almost no time. This does not bode well. |

Present petroleum prices might be the lowest we'll see this year if the potential future hurricanes make destructive strikes upon Gulf Coast rigs and refineries, causing massive long-term shutdowns, oil pipeline disruptions and distributional shortages to commercial and private businesses. All American motorists can recall how Hurricane Katrina caused a sudden steep price surge at the gasoline pumps. What is on the hurricane horizon could be much worse in less time with longer lasting shortages. |
