I need some input here... I heard a Leonard Ravenhill teaching in which he said that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not seen today, because we are not glorifying Jesus. He interprets this from the verse that says: "But this He said concerning the Spirit whom those believing in Him would receive, for the Holy Spirit was not yet been given because Jesus was not yet glorified." John 7:39 How can we glorify Jesus in a true way WITHOUT the baptism of the Holy Spirit? I thought it might be backwards. I don't feel I ever can do Jesus justice in glorification. Maybe he's speaking on a general level, or speaking of the emergent churches and those that want their ears tickled.....I agree we can't glorify Jesus without the presence of the Holy Spirit!! |

israeli - if you do a search for all the other times the word "glorify" pops up in the bible, the error in the teaching/assumption may become more clear. The evidence of Jesus being glorified is everywhere. see ephesians 1 for example. God glorified Jesus first and foremost, so we could in return give glory back to God/Jesus. i wouldn't pay too much attention to that specific teaching.. cheers |

What Mr. Ravenhill is teaching doesn't sound quite kosher to me. "How can we glorify Jesus in a true way WITHOUT the baptism of the Holy Spirit?" The scripture came to mind is this: "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it!" Psalm 81:10 Apart from Him (Yeshua), we can do nothing! |

Jesus wasn't glorified until after the ressurection. After He returned to heaven The Holy Spirit came. |
